p. 58. “(Maccartie/LGI1912) A late C19 castellated house incorporating some fragments of an old caste. Battlemented bow at one end; high-pitched roof with dormers. Curved wooden staircase. The house stands in a fine position above a small river; there was formerly an artificial cascade on the opposite side of the valley. The seat of the senior surviving branch of the once Sovereign House of M’Carty. Bought in the present century by Mr John Sheedy, who sold it ca 1950 to the Sacred Heart Fathers.”
