p. 94. “(Hyde/IFR/ Massy, B/PB) A home of mid-C18 appearance, of three storeys over a basement; the top storey being treated as an attic, above the cornice. Six bay front; two bay breakfront; round-headed doorway flanked by narrow windows. Two storey three bay wing at one side, and set back; with truncated pyramidal roof. Staircase fo fine C18 joinery at back of hall, The house stands above the River Blackwater; in the grounds is a more or less intact tower-house of the Condons. Cregg Castle was, until lately, the home of Mr and Mrs Hugh Massy, who made an elaborate Italianate garden at the back of the house.”
