The house was built in 1751 for Dr. Edward Barry and was much altered later in the 18C. The house had superb plasterwork, with three of the most important ceilings in Ireland. Old Bawn, Tallaght, County Dublin: Built c. 1635 for William Buckeley, Archdeacon of Dublin. An important, two storey gabled “H” plan house. The house was altered in the early 18C when the Doric pedimented doorcase was added. Very fine interior plasterwork with good 17C staircase and chimneypiece (both of which are now in the National Museum). The last remains of the house were demolished about ten years ago.

Saffron Hill, Doneraile, County Cork: A very interesting early to mid 18C house. The house which is only single storey is built of a very beautiful brick. The doorcase is Venetian in form. The window sills are moulded. The house seems to have been originally thatched and he rooms were finished with very good classical cornices etc. Having stood derelict for many years, it was recently re-roofed, but is now derelict again. In 1814 the seat of Mrs. Brazier.
